KENNEWICK, Wash. - A college fund is now open for the young sons of a Richland mother murdered on Wednesday.

Family members say donations are welcome at any U.S. Bank under the name "College Fund for the sons of Rebeca Baer-Vandeventer." The the boys are ages two, four, and eight.

Officers found the body of Vandeventer, 32, on Wednesday night in her apartment on the 1100 block of Dos Palos Ct. in Richland.

34-year-old Lawrence Miller turned himself in just a half an hour after the murder and admitted to killing his former girlfriend, Vandeventer, with a steak knife.

Miller made his first appearance in court Thursday. He will be held in jail without bail until his next court appearance.

Captain Cobb says the three children are with family members following the traumatic event.
