KHQ.COM - A wall of dust & high winds hit the Spokane area at about 9:00pm on Sunday night. Our friends from all over the Inland Northwest have been posting photos on our KHQ Facebook wall of the dust storm. Our region also experienced lightning along with thunderstorms on Sunday night. On Monday expect partly cloudy, blustery & dusty conditions. High temperatures nose-dive into the 70's…Low/High 59°/74°

Monday: After some wild weather last night conditions will be much calmer, but cooler, today. Still some isolated showers are possible, mostly before noon. The one constant today will be some breezy winds with gusts to 30 mph possible. High: 74°

Monday Night: Mostly dry and partly cloudy, winds start to die down. Much cooler morning temps Low: 52°
 
Tuesday: Another round of showers looking to move in by late morning (across the Palouse) and early afternoon (Spokane, CDA, Northern Interior). Even cooler temps as a trough of low pressure settles in on top of us. High: 70°

A narcotics unit was conducting a traffic stop when a police canine alerted officers that it sensed pot. Deputies pulled over a vehicle carrying approximately 1500 pounds of cannabis with a street value of more than $10 million.

    EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska  - U.S. defense officials say the Trump administration has chosen two military bases in Texas -- Fort Bliss and Goodfellow Air Force Base -- to house detained migrants. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record about a pending announcement.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record about a pending announcement.  Defense Secretary Jim Mattis had said on Sunday that two bases had been selected but he would not identify them.

    LONG BEACH, Calif. - A firefighter who was shot while responding to an explosion and fire at a Southern California retirement home has died. Long Beach Fire Chief Mike DuRee announced that the firefighter had died about four hours after the shooting before dawn Monday. DuRee says the 45-year-old firefighter was a 17-year veteran of the department and leaves behind a wife and two children.
