SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- Sunnyside High School students washed cars Sunday to fundraise for their friend tragically taken from them last week. Irving Tapia died in a car crash after he ran a spot sign and was hit by another driver. His mother does not have the money for a proper burial so Irving's friends are trying to help out.
"I want to raise money for him and it's been really hard lately," close friend Katy Lundquist said, "but I want to do this for him."
The car wash cost $5 per car and went directly to the Tapia family. The fundraising goal is $6,000.
