Othello Elementary School Teacher Pleads Guilty to Child Molestation
OTHELLO, Wash. -- An Othello elementary school teacher accused of molesting one of her 10-year-old students was back in court Monday.
Lisa Davis originally pleaded not guilty to the charges, but today she changed her plea to guilty of first degree child molestation.
Davis first entered a not guilty plea in July, but prosecutors and her defense lawyer have been working on a plea agreement. In the agreement, she would plead guilty to the offense and the state would agree to a 51 month sentence.
If Davis qualifies for a Washington state sex offender sentencing alternative, a three year treatment program, her sentence would be knocked down to 12 months. Davis will likely qualify for the program because she has no criminal record.
However, just because her attorney and the state agreed to this deal, it does not mean that the judge has to accept it at her sentencing coming up next month. In a lengthy police report, Davis admitted to sexually touching her 10 year old student on at least three occasions.
Davis was taken into custody and booked on Monday. She will be sentenced on October 28th in Adams County.
