Chiefs Trim Roster To 24 Players

SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Spokane Chiefs have reassigned forward Alex Whitwham to the British Columbia Hockey League (Junior A). Whitwham, a 17-year-old from Richmond, BC, scored three points on a goal and two assists in five 2013 WHL Preseason games. 2013 was his first WHL camp and preseason experience.

The Chiefs also announced the release of three 18-year-old players: Stewart Coyle, Adam Power and Tyson Predinchuk. Coyle, a defenseman from Sicamous, BC, appeared in 20 games with the Chiefs last season, registering 3 assists. Power, also a defenseman, scored a goal and two assists in 17 games played with the Chiefs last season. In 25 games with Spokane, Predinchuk, a forward from Regina, SK, scored five points (all assists).

Spokane is now carrying 24 players on their roster as the 2013-14 regular season begins on Saturday at Tri-City. The team includes 14 forwards, 8 defensemen and 2 goaltenders.

Bud Light Opening Night, the home opener for the Spokane Chiefs 2013-14 regular season, is set for Saturday, September 28. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and opening night ceremonies are expected to begin at 6:50 p.m.
