Kennewick Police Investigating Two Suspicious Fires

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick police are now investigating two suspicious fires they're calling arsons.

The fires were near each other and detectives are trying to determine if the arsons are related.

Sunday a fire in someone's backyard on West 40th Place threatened neighboring fences. And Monday morning, a contractor discovered multiple burn marks at a construction site on South Palouse Street.

"This is somebody who may be just wanting to watch something burn, but not harm anybody. So we don't have any reason to think that anybody's in jeopardy. This is just property damage type stuff. Malicious mischief," said Sgt. Ken Lattin with the Kennewick Police Department.

Both arsons are still under investigation and there are no suspects at this time. Kennewick police ask people to call in any information they have about the fires.
