Chiefs Ready For Season Opener

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. - Just days away from the regular season opener against the Tri-City Americans, the Spokane Chiefs are champing at the bit for the action to get underway.

"It’s definitely an exciting time of year, especially with our first game in Tri, it’s always an exciting one," Chiefs leading returning scorer Mitch Holmberg said. "Their arena’s going and it’s definitely going to be an intense game that our team looks forward to."

The Chiefs recently trimmed their roster to 24 players, reassigning forward Alex Whitwham to the British Columbia Hockey League (Junior A) as well as releasing three 18-year-old players.

The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at The Toyota Center in Kennewick, Wash.
