Washington Navy Yard Opens; Workers Uneasy

WASHINGTON (AP) - Some of the Washington Navy Yard employees returning to work this morning say it's too soon for them to even talk about Monday's shootings that killed 12 people. Others say it will take a while to get past the tragedy.
    
The installation re-opened this morning at 6 a.m. One woman admitted that she'd "rather not be here today."
    
Navy spokeswoman Lt. Cmdr. Sarah Flaherty said today will be a regular work day, except for Building 197, where the shootings occurred, and the base gym. She says the gym is being used as a staging area for the FBI to investigate Monday's rampage in which former Navy reservist Aaron Alexis gunned down 12 people before being killed by police.

According to CBS 46, a Canadian man decided to have some fun and confuse snow removers with a car he sculpted entirely out of snow. The man ended up confusing police instead.  Simon Laprise created a life-size model of a DeLorean DMC-12, famously featured in the "Back to the Future" movies. Laprise showed off his creation

    KENDALL, FLa. NBC - An elderly man and several of his cats were able to escape from a fire that happened early Thursday morning near Miami, Florida. It took firefighters a little over an hour to put out the blaze that had spread to several town homes in Kendall. Two town homes were destroyed and two more were damaged.     SOAP LAKE, Wash. - A 35-year-old Soap Lake man wanted on federal drug charges was arrested Thursday morning during a joint local-federal raid on his home. Ryan Cecchetti was arrested by federal agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration and agents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations. He is now in federal custody. Cecchetti was arrested in 2017 and was indicted on federal drug charges. He failed to appear in court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
