A MOTHER'S BROKEN HEART: It's Been Three Years Since Disappearance Of Heather Higgins

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - It has now been three years since the disappearance of Heather Higgins. All anyone knows is someone saw Heather leave her apartment on the lower south hill September 20, 2010. Heather got in a car with somebody and took off. That was the last time she was seen.

"I believe that somebody knows something and they need to come forward," Higgins Mother Jackie Forney said.

The last three years have been, without question, the hardest years of her mother's life. Forney has spent everyday thinking about her daughter and every free minute looking for her.

"Anybody that's a parent would know what I'm talking about. You know that you're never going to stop looking, you can't," Forney said with great emotion. "You just keep looking and that's just what you do. Some people say I can't believe how diligent you've been and I just say I'm a normal mom, it's what we do."

The Spokane Police Department says that Major Crimes continues to actively investigate the case. The police are investigating the disappearance as a homicide. SPD Communications Director Monique Cotton added that due to the sensitivity of the case, unfortunately they cannot release a lot of details at this point.

Forney has not given up hope.

"It takes a village of caring people to help find missing people," Forney said. "I say to people if you were lost and needed to be found would you not want people to be looking for you and to come rescue you?"

She's started a facebook page, "Missing In The Inland Northwest" where people post information and leads about different missing persons cases in the region. You can find a link here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Missing-People-In-The-Inland-Northwest-Lets-Bring-Them-Home/197813900260047
