Walla Walla Mall Gets New Owner

Posted: Updated:

WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The former Blue Mountain Mall in Walla Walla will soon see some new life. Back in 2008, a company purchased the property with plans to tear it down and rebuild.

They did tear most of it down but the revitalization process never began. The lot became an eyesore in Walla Walla and a problem for the city with fire hazards, upkeep and vandalism issues.

"There's been a series of legal battles and so forth until the current developers acquired the property from the bank and we're very excited. Not just that it's been bought, but that it's been bought by people who know what they're doing," said Mayor Jim Barrow.

A California development company closed on the property last week. They're working out plans to rebuild and we're told there could be new merchants in the two buildings that are standing at the site as early as next spring.
