UPDATE: Police Arrest 42-Year-Old For Flying Goat Bicycle Theft

Posted: Updated:

Spokane Police Department Press Release:

Spokane Police Department P.A.C.T. (Patrol Anti-Crime Team) arrests 42 year old John Randall for Flying Goat bicycle theft.

On 9-16-13 around 6:30am two suspects were seen stealing an employee's bicycle from the Flying Goat restaurant at 3318 NW Blvd. There was good surveillance video of the two suspects and the victim offered a reward of $1,000 for the arrest of the suspects. Spokane Police received several tips on the incident and the PACT team followed up on them. They located suspect John Randall and arrested him for 2nd Theft on Saturday night.

PACT officers further followed up on other information received and were able to locate the stolen bicycle at another location, which had been taken apart. Officers were able to recover all of the stolen bicycle parts except the front tire. The parts were returned to the owner. Spokane Police are actively looking for a second suspect in theft, 29-year-old Christopher Hamberg. Anyone with information about Hamberg's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.

It should be noted that other officers, not familiar with the incident, contacted another suspect, who had been riding the stolen bicycle earlier during the week. The officers ran the serial number of the bicycle but it had not been reported stolen at that time. Spokane Police Department would like to remind citizens to write down serial numbers for bicycles and other high value items. Officers routinely contact suspects with suspicious items they believe are stolen, but if they haven't been reported stolen with the serial number, it is difficult to make an arrest. Spokane COPS offers free bicycle registration. For more information visit their website at: http://www.spokanecops.org/bicycle-registration.
