Yakima Police Are Seeing Less Crime at the Fair

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima police are seeing a decrease in crime at the fair this year than in years past.

The Yakima police department took over security operations at the Central Washington State Fair about 10 years ago and said they are seeing less criminal activity ever since then.

Officers said the biggest concern is gang activity on the fair grounds, but so far this year they are not arresting anyone.

They said this is all because of a large visible police presence on the fairgrounds.
