PASCO, Wash. - More than 100 teenage girls experienced some hands on training Tuesday as they were introduced to the world of manufacturing.
The annual student event is hosted by TRIDEC and Columbia Basin College to showcase specific career opportunities in the manufacturing industry for women. Female industry professionals were also on hand to inspire the young women at Tuesday's event.
the real purpose behind this is to show the girls what's behind all of the products and the things they make and do. What is the process it takes to come up with the things that they make and use everyday, so their technology, their electronics, aerospace, transportation," said Kayla Pratt with TRIDEC.
Pratt says the event is so popular that they had to turn away some students this year. However, she says they will be looking to expand in the future.
