Judge Revokes Bail for Transient Accused of Murder

Posted: Updated:

PENDLETON, Ore. - A Umatilla County Judge has revoked the bail of a transient accused of killing a teenager, and assaulting a woman in Pendleton.

23-year-old Lukah Chang was originally in the Umatilla County Jail on $10 million bond. Now, he'll stay behind bars until and through his trial.

Police arrested Chang at the Pendleton Convention Center last month. Since then, he has pleaded innocent to murder charges in the 2012 death of Amyjane Brandhagen at the Travel Lodge Motel where she worked, and to attempted murder charges in the brutal assault of Karen Lange last month along the Umatilla River Parkway.

In court Tuesday, defense attorneys waived Chang's right for a bail hearing. The transient also no longer has the right to a trial within 60 days.
