YAKIMA, Wash.--For the first time, Yakima Valley Community College is hosting a business plan competition.
The college is partnering with Yakima Valley SCORE to give students some real life experience as an entrepreneur. Instructors said students will come up with an original idea and write a business plan. Then, they'll work with mentors to develop their model.
"It gives students who are just joining us for college the opportunity to engage in something that other institutions across the state already have in place," said Dr. Brock Eubanks, an Economics Instructor.
Students will have several months to complete their business plan before it's put before the judges. They're competing for cash and prizes.
