Summary:

On 9/25/2013 a Yakima Police Officer on routine patrol was flagged down in the 300 Block of S. 7th Street by a citizen who had discovered a suspicious object near his yard. The object, cylindrical in shape and about 12 inches long resembled a possible explosive device.

 Near-by residences were cleared for their safety, and explosive disposal experts from The Yakima Training Center were requested to assist with the disposal of the suspicious object. The team from The Yakima Training Center safely disarmed and disposed of the object which was found to be a tube filled with fireworks.

 Yakima police detectives are conducting the follow-up investigation.  Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to call 575-6200 or 911 (after hours).
