Pilot Dies In Boise After Emergency Landing For Medical Emergency

Posted: Updated:

BOISE, Idaho - A passenger on board a United Airlines flight when the pilot suffered a heart attack says he's "really impressed" with how the rest of the crew handled the situation.

Bryant Magill said that there was no panic on board during the situation Thursday night. He says the flight attendants "kept themselves calm" and "kept it professional."

The plane was on its way from Houston to Seattle when the emergency occurred. An off-duty pilot took over the controls, and the plane was diverted to Boise, Idaho.

Two doctors from the Madigan Army Medical Center were onboard, and performed CPR until the plane landed.

Officials say the pilot, identified as 63-year-old Henry Skillern of Texas, was still alive when he was taken to a Boise hospital, but that he died during treatment.
