Salvation Army Gives Away 400+ Coats to Local Families

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. - NBC Right Now is proud to partner with the Salvation  Army to provide coats this winter for families in need.

The Salvation Army kicked off the Coats for Kids campaign, with a  giveaway, Saturday morning. Organizers say they gave away more than 400 coats at their Richland office.

One grandmother we spoke with, says she's thankful for the giveaway because, otherwise she wouldn't be able to afford buying coats for her 5 grandchildren.

"It's a big deal because I don't have enough money to get them...you know, but them coats, from the store," Linda Chavollo, from Pasco. So, I told my grandchildren, 'let's get up...we're going to go get you guys some coats,'" she continued.

Coats will continue to be available at the Salvation Army in Pasco. If you'd like to donate, you can drop off a new or gently used coat at the Salvation Army or any Coats for Kids barrel located throughout the Tri-Cities.
