National Speedball Championship Game Played In Richland

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash.- Saturday was the deciding day for a local team. They fought their way into the national championship and today they played in Richland.

Speedball is a fast paced paintball game in which two teams maneuver through obstacles down a field. The offense tries to carry a flag to one end to score and the defense tries to block them. The Washington Whites are a local team with members in the Tri-Cities area. They went into the competition Saturday undefeated against the Reno Nevada Big Horns.

"We're pleased to have the guys here again at our field," explained RedDotPaintball owner Tim Osborn. "We hope it gives our guys a little bit of an advantage playing in the outdoors. The Reno team is used to playing in an indoor field so it's going to be a little bit different for them. So that's what home-field advantage is all about."

Sadly the home team wasn't able to pull off an undefeated season. The Reno Big Horns took the national championship title this year in a close game overtime battle. The final score was three to two.
