Washington Closure Hanford Reaches Big Milestone

Posted: Updated:

NBCRightNow.com - Washington Closure Hanford is celebrating a big milestone.

The company and its employees have reached two million hours without a lost workday injury. This is the fourth time they've reached this goal since beginning the River Corridor Closure Project in 2005.

The River Corridor is a 220-square-mile section of the Hanford Site that borders the Columbia River in southeastern Washington state. It was home to nine plutonium production reactors, fuel development facilities, and hundreds of support structures during the Manhattan Project and Cold War years.
