RICHLAND, Wash.- October is breast cancer awareness month. Tuesday, Kadlec Regional Medical Center raised a pink ribbon flag to honor those who have lost their battle with cancer.
They also recognized cancer survivors in the area and others who are still fighting the disease.
This is the 7th year that Kadlec has brought employees and volunteers together to raise the flag.
Sue Cornell beat breast cancer this summer after being diagnosed on New Year's Eve.
"Having a positive attitude is very important, I have a very good friend who just went through her second round with breast cancer...but she was very upbeat, very positive and you have to be and I think it goes a long way into the overall recovery," said Cornell, who also spoke at the flag raising ceremony.
The flag will fly from the roof of Kadlec's main hospital building through the end of October.
