YAKIMA, Wa.--Yakima's Police Chief said it's going to be a difficult transition for the department when many of their top officers retire soon.
Lt. Steve Finch was honored for 27 years of service, but as his career with the police department comes to an end, two other officers received promotions Tuesday.
"As someone who has put in all those years of service moves on, someone else who's building a career and working their way up has an opportunity to demonstrate the additional skills and ability that they have, and we're here to honor and recognize that," said Dave Ettl, a Yakima City Council Member.
Sgt. Gary Jones was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and officer Chance Belton has been promoted to Sergeant.
