Posted: Updated:

BENTON COUNTY, WA. - An 18-year-old man accused of murder is now in the Benton County Jail awaiting trial.

On Tuesday Benton County deputies transferred Noah Matlack from the Umatilla County Jail. Matlack is accused of stabbing and killing Michael Edwards on September 8th in Benton City.

A second suspect, 19-year-old Noel Anthony Gonzalez, has already been transferred from the Umatilla County Jail to the Benton County Jail. Both are facing first degree murder charges.

Court documents show that Matlack told investigators that Edwards owed him $2500 and that Matlack planned to kill Edwards if he didn't pay up.

Police in Stanfield, Oregon found the two suspects trying to sell some rare coins at a truck stop and arrested them when they learned the coins belonged to Edwards.
