Deputies Say Teenager Kills Two Men, Shoots Self at Blue Mountains Cabin
GRANTS PASS, OR. - Grant County Sheriff Deputies say one of the men shot and killed in a deer-hunting camp in northeastern Oregon was the foster father of the 14-year-old shooter.
Deputies say there were two guns involved in the shooting, a hunting rifle and a revolver, one inside a cabin and one outside in the Blue Mountains near the small down of Granite, Oregon.
Deputies say they believe the teenager shot and killed his foster father, 43-year-old Michael Piete, and 64-year-old Kenneth C. Gilliland. Both men had been from Baker City.
Deputies haven't released the boy's name because he is under the age of 18.
Deputies say after the shootings, another person at the deer camp held the boy at gunpoint until help arrived. Deputies say it seems the boy also accidentally shot himself in the leg. Paramedics took him to the hospital.
