Shari's Restaurant Recognized for Green Efforts

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, WA. --  They may be known for their pie, but now Shari's Restaurant in Richland is standing out for a different reason.

The restaurant is one of 3 winners of this year's Green Living Awards. The City of Richland announced the winners Thursday night.

Shari's general manager says the restaurant has been working very hard to be more efficient with water and energy, and also reducing waste.

"Richland, because of the area, is very much involved in green technology. So it was kind of a win win," said Shari's General Manager Kevin Lanham.

Other winners include the Marjorie Sutch Greenway Clean Up Project, and CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation for reducing waste at their company picnic.

This is the 9th year the City of Richland has recognized businesses and organizations for their efforts to be environmentally friendly.
