KENNEWICK, WA - Some young and talented musicians visited the Tri-Cities Saturday.
The 32nd annual Cavalcade of Bands was hosted in Kennewick at Lampson stadium. Marching bands from all over the region came to perform choreographed pieces on the football field. Each school had a different theme to each performance including everything from the firemen who battle brush fires in Wenatchee to the musical Les Miserables.
"I would guess that and excess of 50 percent of the people that work on this every year no longer have students in these programs," explained Randy Bjur, the Pasco High School Band Director. "They just have done it for so long and love doing it and they come back and work again and again. We couldn't do it without them."
The whole day ended with an award presentation from the judges and a final big performance on the field. The profits from the event go to the Kennewick and Pasco High School booster clubs.
