KENNEWICK, WA - An elderly Kennewick woman is shocked after an early morning incident that surprised and frightened her.

The woman who lives on North Cleveland Street awoke Sunday around 3 a.m. when she heard a noise. When she walked into her living room she found a man sitting on her couch.

James Braithwaite reportedly pushed the couch up against the apartment front door. The woman told him to leave her home but he refused. When she tried to escape he allegedly pushed her away and held the door shut, leaving the woman with no escape.

Her son heard what was happening from outside and he called 911. Braithwaite decided to run. Police found and arrested him at the Rocket Mart on Canal Drive. When NBC Right Now spoke with the woman she said she was in too much shock to speak on camera. Braithwaite was booked into the Benton County Jail for burglary charges.
