YAKIMA, WA. - Yakima Firefighters say they are investigating a suspicious fire at an empty house overnight.

Neighbors told firefighters they heard a loud pop or explosion late Sunday night, before the house on the 1300 block of Spokane Street went up in flames.

Firefighters don't know exactly what sparked the fire, but they say they are investigating the cause as highly suspicious. However, they haven't specified why.

Investigators say they believe the fire started near the back patio and spread into the home and attic.

The house was under renovation at the time of the fire and no one was living there, so no one got hurt.

Firefighters say the fire severely damaged the patio and the kitchen area, as well as a large portion of the roof. There was also smoke and heat damage throughout the majority of the house.

Firefighters say the damages total about $80,000.
