YAKIMA, WA. -- The Yakima Valley Library is using grant money to try to bring the community together.
Libraries across the Yakima Valley are hosting Big Read Month funded by a $17,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. All of the libraries in the Valley will have periodic book discussions on the novel Into the Beautiful North.
Library Resource Coordinator Charlotte Hinderlider hopes to bring people in Yakima together to engage and discuss the book.
"To bring a community together about something positive, something a little different in their lives," said Hinderlider.
Into the Beautiful North is being offered for free by the libraries. Author of the book, Luis Urrea will visit Yakima Central Library for a discussion November 4th.
