KENNEWICK, WA - Starting this Thursday, say goodbye to Kennewick General Hospital.

On October 10th, Kennewick General Hospital will become Trios Health.

For the first time in over 60 years,  KGH has a new name. The Kennewick Public Health District Board of Commissioners revealed the change at a special event at the Auburn Campus Tuesday morning.

The board says the new name "better reflects the organization's commitment to the Tri-Cities and changes in its size and scope of services since 1952 when the original hospital was opened."

If you think back to last week, remember those people in full body green suits all over town?

Well, it was part of a marketing campaign to promote the coming changes.

"We're not being bought, we're not being sold, we're not merging with anyone," said administrator Glen Marshall, "We're still Kennewick Public Hospital District #1 doing business as Trios Health and we're going to continue and expand and grow and provide great services to our community."

All KGH locations will make the change to Trios Health this Thursday. Officials say the name change has been in discussion for several years.
