The Chiefs are 5-1-0-0 coming into tonight's game vs. the Kelowna Rockets, following a 1-0 overtime victory over Everett on Saturday. The win was Spokane's first overtime game and first shutout of the season. It was also the first time the Chiefs scored fewer than two goals. Tonight is the Chiefs' second home game of the 2013-14 season; they defeated Tri-City at home on September 28th.

In 2012-13, the Chiefs were 2-2-0-0 vs. the Rockets as each team won one home game and one road game in the season series. The Chiefs won both games in which they scored the first goal and lost both games when Kelowna scored first. The Chiefs were the winners of the 1st and 3rd periods between the two clubs, outscoring Kelowna 13-6 during those periods while being outscored 7-3 in 2nd periods.

Of returning players, Mitch Holmberg scored the most points vs. Kelowna last season. In four games, he scored three goals and two assists for five points. New Chiefs captain Reid Gow, in three games last season, tallied three assists and a +3 plus/minus. The Chiefs two goaltenders were both solid vs. Kelowna last year. Eric Williams posted a 3.18 GAA and .916 SV%, going 2-1-0-0. Garret Hughson allowed 2.74 goals per game with a .902 SV%, going 0-1-0-0.
