Richland Kids Get Day Off, Teachers Get To Work

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, WA - Friday in Richland, the teachers were the students.

Throughout the school year students will get days off for faculty workshop days. But what are the teachers actually doing? Friday NBC Right Now visited Badger Mountain Elementary where teachers gathered to talk about the common core state standards and how they get their students to stay on track with the curriculum. Teachers listened to multiple presentations and worked through some examples of teaching techniques to freshen up their skills.

"I think when they return to school on Monday they're going to feel very motivated, they're going to feel supported and they're going to have something that they can apply right when they walk through the door on Monday," said Nicole Blake who works in early childhood education for Richland Schools.

When the students return to school on Monday the teachers hope to have a couple new tricks up their sleeves to teach their students.
