Trucker Protest In DC Does Not Materialize

Posted: Updated:

Threats of snarled traffic from a trucker protest did not materialize in Washington, DC Friday.

Extra police from Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC were on standby in case a planned trucker protest caused major problems on roads near the capitol.

For the most part, traffic around Washington was slow, but not really any worse than normal.

Every now and then, trucks could be spotted traveling beside each other, some displaying American flags, and flashing their lights.

It was a rainy day in Washington and it's not clear if that kept some of the truckers away.

Organizers of the truck protest had said truckers were upset over Obamacare and other issues like national security.

Some have even called for President Barack Obama to be removed from office.
