MILTON-FREEWATER, Oregon - We're close to halfway through October which is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. A group of Milton-Freewater women want to help you count down the days with a brand new 15 month calendar.

The beautiful women featured each month are Baring It for Breast Cancer Awareness. Each of them have, in some way, been affected by cancer. For some this calendar is helping them heal, for others, it's just giving back.

"I was diagnosed ten years ago and when you get that big C word diagnosis, it scares you to death and for two weeks you have to process that," said breast cancer survivor Linda Miller.

That two week processing period can now be counted down with their brand new calendar, of which Miller is featured as Miss October 2013.

"If I can reach one woman with that, that goes in early, gets a mammogram, does her breast checks, goes to see her physician and gets that done that's a good thing," said Miller.

"It doesn't matter your age, your size, your color, you know. Women are beautiful and if we can raise money to help fight breast cancer, it'd be wonderful,' said Miss January, McKenzie Marly.

"All of the ladies are touched personally by cancer, so we're trying to work together to raise as much money as possible," said Miss November, Megan Hoel.

This was actually all Hoel's idea and she's also the photographer. Her dad died of cancer when he was just 48.

"It's an important part of healing for me, the calendar. To be able to give back when I wasn't able to at such a young age. I feel like I'm closing up a wound, after 13 years, I can finally get that closure," said Hoel.

"I hope that when they see these calendars and realize it's for a great cause, one dollar is one step closer to finding a cure," said Marly.

The calendar is just $15 on Etsy. You can also pick them up all over Milton-Freewater.

The money raised will go to their local cancer center and at least one personal donation to someone struggling with breast cancer now.
