EDMONTON, Alberta -

The Edmonton Oil Kings used a 4 goal third period to rally past the Spokane Chiefs 4-1 Friday night in Edmonton, Alberta. The Chiefs suffered just their second loss of the season in 8 games as Spokane is now 6-2 on the season. Mike Aviani started the scoring with his 8th goal of the year from Keanu Yamamoto and Mitch Holmberg just 1:56 into the game. Spokane had three power play chances in the first half of the period including a 5 on 3 for 1:39 but failed to score as it was 1-0 after one.

The two teams failed to score in the second as Edmonton outshot Spokane 20-11 through 40 minutes. The Chiefs turned aside two Oil King power play chances in the period. Edmonton would break through with goal just 1:40 into the third period to tie the game at one. Curtis Lazar then scored on a 4 on 4 to give Edmonton their first lead at 2-1. Lazar would add his second goal of the night midway through the period to make it 3-1 Oil Kings and Mitch Moroz would add an empty net tally to finish off the 4-1 win.

Edmonton outshot the Chiefs 30-17, as both teams went 0-3 on the power play. Spokane will be back in action Saturday night when they travel to Red Deer to take on the Rebels at 6pm Pacific. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA beginning with the pre-game show at 5:30p Pacific.
