Eastern Washington Men's Hockey picked up their first victory of the 2013/14 BCIHL season by knocking off the University of Victoria Vikes 3-0 in front of a packed crowd at the EWU Recreation Center on breast cancer awareness night.

The Eagles were paced by goals from Tanner Hawes, Matt Hanson, and Paxton Bell. The Eagles dominated the game outshooting the Vikes 46-15. The Vikes relied on goaltender Sunny Gill to keep it close for most of the game. Jason Greenwell picked up his second career shutout as an Eagle.

The Eagles will play their next four games on the road before returning to the URC on November 1st for a 7 p.m. start with Trinity Western University.

Coach Bill Shaw's thoughts on the game:

"We corrected a lot of the mistakes we made the first week against Selkirk College, but we still have work to do. Our energy needs to be more consistent and we need to capitalize on scoring opportunities. It was a good team win and our attention to the defensive end of the rink was impressive."
