UPDATE: On Monday we learned more about the couple who passed away in the crash that happened near Big R, a store where the two were regular customers. Friends say Floyd and Margaret Nordhagen were on their way to buy cat food at the store before the accident.

92-year-old Floyd Nordhagen and his 88-year-old wife Margaret have been part of the Elk Community for decades. They were members of the Elk Community Church and cared for several animals. Their son, Marv Nordhagen, says they have cats, dogs, and cattle he is now trying to find a place for.

According to people in the area, the two were always together and often came to Big R, near where the crash happened.

Floyd is described as someone everyone like, a man who would help anyone in need, and a husband who always took great care of his wife, who suffered from Alzheimer's.

A family friend says one day Floyd stopped him and said, make sure you always hug and kiss your wife, that is something I do everyday.

According to Washington State Patrol, Floyd and Margaret were found holding hands in the car after the accident. Their son says he thinks his mom probably grabbed Floyd's hand when the accident happened. Both died at the scene of the crash.

Although it is a very sad situation, many say it is a blessing the two were taken together.

A memorial service has not yet been scheduled.
