City of Kennewick to Host Safe Clearwater Project Open House Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, WA - The City of Kennewick will host an open house Wednesday to get some more public input on the Safe Clearwater Project.

The project received federal money back in June to make improvements to Clearwater Ave.

They're focusing on making the busy street more safe overall.

Some of the plans include upgrades for pedestrians, possibly adding more right turn lanes and adding driveway access points, some that would stop people from making left turns.

"We've been taking the feedback so far and some of those concepts have come out of that feedback and we're continuing to do that so it's a design that not only provides safety but also works for our residents and our businesses," Evelyn Lusignan, City of Kennewick.

The open house will be on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m at Kamiakin High School Library.

People are also welcome to visit the project headquarters located on 7601 West Clearwater Ave., Suite 402. There, people can view information and exhibits for the project.

The headquarters is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Also for more information about the project, people can call the hotline at (509) 572-9518 or visit the project's web site at www.safeclearwateravenue.com.
