Level III Sex Offender Moves to 1st Street in Yakima

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA - The Yakima County Sheriff's Office wants you to know about a level three sex offender living in the area.

Deputies say 42-year-old John Marvin Hedges is now living on the 1200 block of North 1st Street in Yakima.

Hedges was convicted of first degree rape back in April of 1997.

He has served his sentence, and is not wanted by law enforcement at the time. But deputies say his previous criminal history puts him in a classification level that reflects the potential to reoffend.

Law Enforcement has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may or may not live. Unless court ordered restrictions exist, deputies say this offender is constitutionally free to live wherever he chooses.
