UPDATE/THE DALLES, OR - An officer involved shooting in a small Klickitat County town left one man dead and a police officer in the hospital.
The police chief of The Dalles, Ore., says one of his
officers was shot and wounded Wednesday night while conducting an
investigation in Wishram, Wash., with other law enforcement officers.
Chief Jay Waterbury says a suspect is dead.
The chief says
his 42-year-old officer did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was
expected to be released after treatment at a hospital in The Dalles.
The wounded officer was not identified.
Klickitat County sheriff's officers and Oregon State Police were also
present in Wishram. He said he believed the male suspect was shot but
had no details. No one else was injured.
The Klickitat County sheriff's office is investigating the shooting.
THE DALLES, OR - An official in the Columbia River Gorge community of The Dalles, Oregon, says a city police officer was shot and wounded Wednesday evening when he crossed the river to make an arrest in Wishram, Washington.
The unidentified officer was taken to a hospital with what were thought to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Dalles City Manager Nolan Young says "the suspect is no longer a threat." Young said details of what happened are still sketchy but the officer had gone to make an arrest when shots were fired about 9 p.m.
