Most high school athletes play one sport per year in the regular season, but not this week's Academic All-Star; Southridge's Hannah Sanders.

"High school, I'll play summer ball and club, I'll play winter and spring," says Sanders.

Skills she learns from the beautiful game aren't only applied academically, but to the rest of her life as well.

"Well there's communication, team work, responsibility, that's a big one, and just working hard, biggest one, effort," says Sanders.

And being a stand-out midfielder with a g-p-a around 3.7, colleges are taking notice.

"I've been talking to Central Washington a little, and Walla Walla, so hopefully something happens with those two," says Sanders.

But right now she's focused on high school, specifically enjoying classes in anatomy and sports medicine.

"We're learning about injuries, so that's pretty good to know. And taping ankles; I tried it the other day, [and] failed," says Sanders.
