UPDATE: WISHRAM, WA - The Klickitat County Prosecutor has released the name of the man fatally shot by an officer Wednesday.

The prosecutor says 22-year-old Adrian Suarez of The Dalles was shot and killed during a shootout with an officer from The Dalles Police Department.

The plainclothes officer from The Dalles returned fire and killed a man fleeing from investigators who hoped to question him in a rape case.
    
The officer suffered a non-life threatening wound. He was released Thursday from a local hospital.
    
Officers from Oregon and Washington went to a house in Wishram on Wednesday night to question the man.
    
The Dalles police said an officer who approached the front of the house saw a man with a firearm inside.
    
The police say the man fled out the back, where officers were stationed, and after a chase of about one block he fired and was killed.
    
Names of those involved have not been released. The officer is described as a 17-year police veteran.
