BENTON COUNTY, WA - What started as a robbery in Richland, ended in a car chase near Grandview Thursday night.
Benton County Sheriff's deputies tell NBC Right Now Richland Police asked for help looking for the robbery suspect's vehicle.
When deputies joined the search, they found a vehicle fitting the description near Prosser and pulled the car over.
When deputies pulled the car over, the driver got out of the suspect vehicle. However, when the driver got out, his passenger moved over into the driver's seat and took off.
Deputies chased the passenger suspect along Interstate 82 until he hit a State Department of Transportation sign on exit 73 near Grandview.
The passenger suspect ran off, but deputies eventually found him hiding in a vineyard. The passenger suspect was taken to Prosser Memorial to be checked out for any injuries he may have had from the accident.
Deputies say the passenger is suspected of robbing the Wal-Mart in Richland.
