RICHLAND, WA-- Pink balloons made their way up Badger Mountain Saturday as part of a hike to raise awareness for breast cancer.
The balloons were sold at the event for five dollars and the Northwest Cancer Clinic matched each donation for charity.
The money will go to the non-profit Focus on Cancer to provide free mammograms.
Doctors say it's more than an event to support breast cancer awareness, it's also to protect your health.
"We have a lot of patients here who have had breast cancer. We've learned that physical activity really helps you beat the odds," said Sheila Rege, Northwest Cancer Clinic.
Participants hiked the mountain with their balloons in hand and wrote messages of hope on them.
At the top, a ceremony honored the people who have battled breast cancer.
