KENNEWICK, WA - Earlier this week NBC Right Now introduced you to a little screech owl that got trapped in a Kennewick chimney. After being taken care of at Blue Mountain Wildlife in Pendleton, the owl was ready to come back home to the Tri-Cities.
The owl, which has yet to be determined male or female, was fed two mice a day in Pendleton. It was rehydrated after being stuck in a fireplace for three days. It gained about 20 grams of weight while being cared for. It was deemed healthy and no injuries were found from being trapped.
The next step was letting "Screech" the Blue Mountain owl go free. It was released near Canyon View Elementary and flew directly out of it's carrying box to a nearby tree where it is likely making a happier home.
