Candle Vigil Remembering Lives Of Ones Lost

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, WA - It was two years ago to the day on Sunday that Richland teenager Sierra Murray was hit by a car in Richland and died of her injuries.

A candlelight vigil was held in her honor this evening. Sierra was an organ donor. One thing her family stressed tonight is that because she was a donor she helped over 50 people recover from their illnesses. The family wants to keep her memory alive as well as the memories of all who have passed each person who came out lit a candle in honor of someone in their life that is missed.

"The flame on the candle represents remembrance so we're here to remember our lost loved ones today," explained Terry Murray, Sierra's father. "Gone but not forgotten."

Murray's family has done a vigil like the one tonight each year since the death of sierra. They paused for a moment of silence at exactly 6:35 p.m., the time Sierra was hit by the car near the high school.
