UPDATE: Two Hit By Train in Kennewick, Woman Killed, Man Taken to Hospital
UPDATE: KENNEWICK, WA - The Benton County Coroner has confirmed the identity of a woman who was hit and killed by a train Monday afternoon. The Coroner's Office reports 50-year-old Melinda D. Williams is the victim of yesterday's train fatal train accident.
UPDATE/KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police and Burlington Northern Sante Fe train officials are still investigating a deadly train versus pedestrian accident.
However, police have released the name of the man who suffered a severe injury to his arm. Officers say 47-year-old Samuel W. Frank was walking on the train tracks with his female companion and a dog.
A passing motorist found Frank along the 4200 block of West Canal Drive.
The woman was killed, but Frank was taken to Trios Emergency Department in Kennewick.
Police say at this time, it appears the couple were on the train tracks and did not get off in time before getting hit by the eastbound train. Police aren't sure why the couple were trespassing on the railroad tracks.
KPD will release more information once they positively identify the woman.

Police say they believe the woman killed was in her late 40's.
KENNEWICK, WA. - Kennewick Police say two people have been hit by a train along the 4200 block of W. Canal Drive.
Police say the accident happened just after 4 p.m. on Monday. They say one woman is dead and paramedics have taken a man to the hospital with what police believe is a severed arm. Police say a dog was also injured and taken to a veterinarian.
Officers are waiting for BNSF officials to join the investigation. We have a reporter at the scene and will bring you more information as soon as we get it.
