UPDATE/KENNEWICK, WA - Kennewick Police and Burlington Northern Sante Fe train officials are still investigating a deadly train versus pedestrian accident.

However, police have released the name of the man who suffered a severe injury to his arm. Officers say 47-year-old Samuel W. Frank was walking on the train tracks with his female companion and a dog.

A passing motorist found Frank along the 4200 block of West Canal Drive.

The woman was killed, but Frank was taken to Trios Emergency Department in Kennewick.

Police say at this time, it appears the couple were on the train tracks and did not get off in time before getting hit by the eastbound train. Police aren't sure why the couple were trespassing on the railroad tracks.
