YAKIMA, Wash. - A man accused of setting a house fire in Selah last summer has admitted to committing arson.

18-year-old Sammy Edward Hale of Selah pleaded guilty to arson charges on Monday. He also pleaded guilty to a rash of break-ins and car prowls.

A judge sentenced him to nearly three years in prison.

Firefighters say the fire back on July 11th caused $270,000 worth of damages to a home on the 100 block of North 12th Street.

A man who was sleeping inside at the time escaped after people driving by noticed the fire and woke him up.
