Several Groups Showing Interest in Charter Schools in Washington State
Anyone interested in education is another step closer to knowing what kind of schools of schools may become Washington state's first charter schools.
SEATTLE, WA - Anyone interested in education is another step closer to knowing what kind of schools of schools may become Washington state's first charter schools.
Organizations that want to open one of the new public schools in fall 2014 were required to turn in a letter of intent by the end of the day on Tuesday. They have another month to complete their applications.
Among those who have expressed interest in opening a charter school in Washington state, under the new law approved by voters last November, are two charter management organizations that already run charter schools in California. Several private schools have expressed interest in converting to public charter schools. And a number of others are making their first attempt to start a school.
Their application must include plans for a building, curriculum, budgeting, staffing and other details.
