DUI Driver Crashes into Mobile Home in Buena, Injures Teen
UPDATE/BUENA, WA.--A family is searching for a new place to stay after a drunk driver crashed into their mobile home.
Diego Martinez said he and his family were asleep when all of a sudden the couch he was sleeping on lurched forward. A drunk driver crashed into their mobile home in Buena, sending a young girl to the hospital.
The State Patrol said they were trying to pull over 20-year-old Nathena Jim from Wapato, but she took off. She ran through a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 22 and the Yakima Valley Highway and crashed into the mobile home.
Martinez said three of his cousins were sleeping in the bedroom right next to where the car made impact. He said the family was scared for a few tense moments.
"I thought something bad happened, someone died, because my Uncle was looking for her but she wasn't there," said Martinez. "She was by the door laying down. She couldn't move."
Paramedics took the injured 14-year-old to the hospital. Her family said she's back home recovering.
Jim was supposed to make her first appearance in court Wednesday for charges of DUI, eluding, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment, but the court said she's still to banged up to face the judge.
BUENA, WA - The Washington State Patrol says troopers were trying to stop a drunk driver when she crashed into a mobile home in Buena hurting a teenage girl inside.
Troopers say they were trying to pull over Nathena Jim, 20, from Wapato just around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when she missed the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 22 and Yakima Valley Highway and drove into the mobile home.
Paramedics took a 14-year-old girl inside to Yakima Memorial Hospital. Officers booked Jim into the Yakima County Jail.
Jim is facing DUI, eluding, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment charges.
